Our office was retained by Copia Developments to design a new high-rise residential project in London, Ontario. This large, mixed use development will provide 400 Residential Units, as well as Commercial ground floor amenities and retail spaces. Close attention has been paid to the construction systems and material selection to blend a contemporary aesthetic with common building practices. This approach has allowed our team to help the client control project costs and deliver a design that is forward thinking and unique for Londoners.
Based on the requested unit count, our team went through multiple iterations of the overall development. Working with the City of London’s Urban Planning department, we were able to control the overall massing of the project by breaking the development up into three separate towers. Each tower is connected to the ground level with a masonry podium element that helps to create human scale at the urban level. Additionally, we have proposed a glass link between the buildings which will act as another fantastic local for public amenity space(s). The glass has been designed with an exterior film application that will act as a primary “art feature” for the building. This art offering is intended to add more character to the building and enhance the public realm.
